For I have given you an example, that as I have done to you, so you do also. " If this had been all which St. Luke had recorded, the existence of a Superior in the Church after the pattern of Christ Himself might have been inferred as to come.
But our Lord then proceeds to speak positively of a kingdom which He was setting up, and of the place in it which the Apostles should hold : " And you are they who have continued with me in my temptations ; and I dispose to you, as my Father hath disposed to me, a kingdom ; that you may eat and drink at my table, in my kingdom, and may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
