A man reenlisting under continuous service, and whose conduct w^arrants, may, under certain restrictions, be awarded a good con- duct medal if recommended by his commanding oflicer. For sub- sequent enlistment a pin or bar is awarded in lieu of the medal. Each good conduct medal, pin or bar entitles the holder to 83 cents per month in addition to the pay of his rating.
Immediately upon official notification of the death, from wounds or disease not the result of his own misconduct, of any enlist...ed man on the active list of the Navy, the Paymaster General of the Nav}^ shall cause to be paid to the widow or children of such enlisted man, or any other dependent relative previously designated by him, an amount equal to six months' pay, at the rate received by him at the date of his death.
IMPORTANT.
All appncantg for enlistment in the Navy must personally appear at a Navy recruiting station or navy yard, and there be examined as to their qualifications for enlistment. Applicants residing at a distance from such recruiting station or navy yard should, in all cases, carefully consider whether they can meet the requirements for enlistment as given in this circular.
