Ritchie, but he was compelled, in consequence of more pressing claims, near home, to relinquish the charge ; since which time, and at the present, these duties have been very acceptably performed by students from the Theological Institution at Newton.
The school now consists of sixty-two children, from five to fifteen years of age, — average age nine years. Since the last Report Mr. A. C. Page has taken charge of the school, and the scholars are at all times under his eye. The children are kept... apart from the adult inmates of the house, and take their meals by themselves imder the teacher's inspection. During the summer the boys are required to attend to light work upon the Farm, which is not only amusing, but also promotes health and imparts mstruction ; this, however, does not interfere Avith their regular studies in the school room. From the Report of the School Committee, who visit the school every month, we learn that the school is in as good a condition as any school of like numbers in this City, and they also report that the teacher is not only competent, but devoted to his calling.
