Arrange- ments have been ...made by which the poor are comfort- ably lodged, and well provided for. The expenses for the support of the poor the past year, have been 3,795 dollars, The Fire Department of Roxbury is -established on a good foundation. The value of a good organization of this department is acknowledged by all. No reas- onable expense has been spared to keep it in an effi- cient condition, and well provided with the means of extinguishing fires. Happily during the past year, the number of fires, and the amount of property destroyed, have been comparatively inconsiderable.
