These are not properly town officers — but having assign- ed to them important duties under our laws in relation to common schools, I propose a brief view of their mode of appointment, and of some of their chief powers and duties.
How chosen. The trustees are chosen by the votes of the district, at their annual meeting. They are three in num- ber, and hold their offices for one year.
