What reading level is Colonel Saunderson M P a Memoir book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
He is greatly pleased with it, and intends sending it to the Academy next year. " During his usual autumn campaign he enjoyed the distinction of being elected Grand Master of the Orangemen of Scotland. It was during this recess that two facts bearing upon Home Rule became known : one, calculated rather to reconcile wavering Liberals, was that Mr. Gladstone had finally decided that the Irish members must be retained at West- minster ; the other, destined to shatter for a time the Nationalist par...ty, was that Mr. Parnell was to be made co-respondent in a divorce case. Saunderson must have realised that both these events were to influence his policy and labours, but he was not at his highest pressure at the moment. In August he had been concerning himself with Irish licensing legislation ; subsequently he was denouncing the proposal to establish a Roman Catholic University ; not, he protested, from motives of bigotry, but because, in his oracular words, he objected to any attempt to buy the Roman Catholic Church, not only with Protestant money, but the money of the people of Ireland, and because he believed that it would be repugnant alike to Protestants and Roman Catholics who valued freedom of education.
