From what has already been stated, one can at once pre- dict how a colour of this composition will behave in gaslight. The indigo blue tends to redden in gaslight, in direct contrast to the patent blue, which becomes much greener ; the orchil reddens greatly, while the yellow inclines to disappear. The results are that No. 13 becomes much greener, and No. 14 becomes much redder in gaslight than in daylight. § 67. The coloured plate (see frontispiece) represents some abnormal changes in hue of dyed fabrics.
