All advance payments are not forbidden by the Lien Law, but only such as are made in advance by collusion or for the purpose of avoiding the act. This, of course, can only apply to payments made by the OAvner to the chief contractor with a view to cutting off the sub-contractors and securing to the contractor what ought to go to the payment of his sub-con- tractors.
