When, through the Minimum Wage he re- ceives a wage on which he can live decently, he can have three meals a day, a warmer house, more and better clothes; he can... put his children in school and his wife in his home. The result will be a stronger, better nourished boy, a happier family, a more cheery home and a better attitude toward his work. Can there be any doubt but that this will give the worker new life, increased strength and energy and greater efficiency? The employer knows that it pays to keep his horses in the best condition, but when his men and women weaken he merely casts them aside and draws on the ever increasing supply. So we see the Minimum Wage, by forc- ing a selection of the efficient, places a goal for the worker and stimulates endeavor and so increases efficiency.
