What reading level is Contributions to the Study of Diseases of the Heart And Lungs book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

The violin is bvit the analogy of the human chest. The vibrations of the vocal cords, or the strings of the violin, are reproduced and multi- plied indefinitely in the sound chamber of the human chest or the violin ; they would have no volume, no reverberation, no timbre, removed from the acoustic instrument. Let the string be attached to a non-sono- rous body and it will vibrate as well, and the pitch will be according to the rapidity of the vibrations, but the sound will have no quality above... that of a child's toy.
The volume and quality of sound do not depend upon the vibrations of the string, but upon the reproducing and multiplying instrument to which it is attached.
Let the instrument be ever so little injured in its acoustic conditions, the alteration in the volume and quality of sound will measure the injury. Place a non- vibrating body upon the violin, or pour sand or shot or water into it, and its power of reproducing and mul- tiplying sound will be notably impaired, and the same is true of the human chest.
