These have been made in an attempt to eliminate some repetition and to enhance the clarity and usefulness of the report.
The Town of Conway is in sound fiscal condition. Unlike some other towns and cities, and even some states and the Federal Govern- ment, we have a balanced budget and a modest surplus rather than a deficit for 1975. This has been achieved despite continued inflation and rising costs for services and materials. As a result of fiscal restraint by the voters, plus some increased valuation, we were able to reduce the tax rate by one dollar per thousand of assessed valuation while maintaining essential services and keeping our plant and equipment up-to-date and in repair.
