What reading level is Cornwall And Its Coasts book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
Not satisfied with equipping and maintaining in good order this rescuing fleet, the Society distributes rewards to all those who have distin- guished themselves by their noble conduct. These rewards consist of money, medals, and honorary certificates. After each expedition to wrecks, the life-boat crew receive a sum proportionate to the nature of the danger they have incurred. The medals are of gold or silver : they bear on one side the bust of Queen Victoria, and on the reverse the image of a ...life-boat, in which three sailors are di-awing a shipwrecked man out of the water. These medals are only decreed to persons who have seriously risked their lives in saving those of others. A minute inquiry is made before the Committee forms a decision, and all EDUCATION TOWAKDS SELF-SACKIFICE. 201 the circumstances connected with the shipwreck are laid before it. The result is that these rewards — the gold medal more especially — are only granted in extraordinary cases, and for services which really arouse admiration.
