With reference to giving drink at political meetings, Mr. Justice Channell said: " I am inclined to think that the main reason why it was done was to get people to come. How- ever interesting a speaker may be, it requires some sort of attraction to get people to come to listen to his views upon subjects which are sup- posed to interest politicians, but do not interest everybody. Therefore, I cannot help thinking that the main object of giving away a little drink on these occasions was to get an audience.
