In the author's opinion, much depends upon the definition of the term and the sense in which it is employed. Jonathan Hutchinsoii 1 has discussed the subject with ability from a practical stand- point, and I am in accord with his views when he defines diathesis to be " any condition of prolonged peculiarity of health giving proclivity to definite forms of disease.
