What reading level is Dark Slayer book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:
The sensation of breathing air again was strange after so long sharing the soil and its healing properties. The moon was a full silver ball in the clear sky, glowing softly and casting light over the snow-covered terrain. Ivory, cautious as always, scanned their surroundings for any hint of danger.Razvan followed her lead, reveling in his growing Carpathian knowledge. He stretched as he made a full circle, using all of his senses to gather information. He realized he saw and felt differently. He... even processed differently. Before, as a Carpathian at full strength, he had been astonished at the flood of information coming to him, but now it was even more intense. It was if the earth spoke to him, whispered her secrets, and ferreted out the smallest detail to share with him. He had changed somehow, beneath the ground. The soil shared something unnamed with him, allowing the trees and plants, the soil itself to pour a wealth of knowledge into him.He turned his head to look at his lifemate.
Out of all the books in the Carpathian series that I have read so far, this one resonates with me the most. Two broken people who each fought on their own to survive, rebuild and overcome. So when they finally meet each other, they can support each other and continue to heal; there is no clinging or complete dependency, they each uplift each other. I like that. Secondly, despite all the torture that Razvan underwent, he manages to exude calm, and inner peace. Over the centuries, he has come to the realization of 2 major points:1) you cannot control the thoughts and actions of others, so why get angry, despair or get guilt over the actions of others and 2) why care what others think, only the opinion of those who TRULY know you matter. In this point of my life, I really needed to hear/read these words and read Razvan's mantra. Through his story (fictional though it is) it gives me hope, courage and resilience. I love this story- 'Dark Slayer'. I will buy a copy to re-read it often.
