For if a man is an admirer of the pursuits which ^lius ^ has brought into fashion, he will find everywhere in the civil law, in the books of the pontiffs, and in the XII Tables, a complete picture of antiquity, in so far as the original forms of words may be studied there, and certain kinds of procedure illustrate the life and manners of our ancestors.
