We loft Staten Island, November 9, 1861, en route for Washington, where wc arrived without adventure, after a hearty midnight supper given us by the loyal ladies of I'hiladelphia. We encamped for a few days on Kendall Green, from whence we marched to McCloud's Mills, three miles from . Mexandria. Where we went into winter quarters and settled down to hard and laborious drill. The regiment was composed of seven companies raised in and around New New York at Gettysburg.
