Foster care is funded by the state General Fund and federal assistance programs and is the responsibility of the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). The Department of ...Corrections (department) reimburses DPHHS for foster care costs related to juvenile offenders assigned to the department. The depanment reimbursed DPHHS for $9.5 million during fiscal year 1995-96. Federal Title IV-A and Title rV-E programs account for $448,152 and $275,989 of the total, respectively. The federal Title IV-A, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), program provides emergency assistance for the costs of benefits or services provided to families with children which require assistance either in their home or in alternative living arrangements.
