At the end of this time the coatinp- of oxide was loosened,... and the plates were removed and washed with water, dried and rubbed off with emery cloth until a clean, fairly smooth surface was obtained.
Another good pickling solution consists of 1000 -narts of water, 1^44 parts of concentrated sulphuric acid, and 60 parts of 4S^ HP. The solution is thoroughly apritated with a wooden paddle before using, and the article is placed in the solution, which is then heated on the steam bath for ten minutes.
After the nlates are cleaned and burnished with emery and, having the electrolyte 'nade pp , the plates are dipped a few minutes in a strong hot sodium hydroxide solution to remove any trace 27.
