When not in use these parts should be kept protected by the covers provided for the purpose. All bearing surfaces should be kept thor- oughly oiled, expecial care being given to the deflection worm (84) and bearings for the telescope which are of steel. The cover should be removed and the sight bracket examined at least once in every two weeks, and the cradle should be moved in elevation... and deflection.
