Dhar is so h-tmiately linked with their name and history that it has given rise to the popular verse — Where the Paramara is, there is Dhar ; And where Dhar is, there is the Paramara; Without Dhcr the Paramara is nothing. So without the Paramara is Dhar.
Many allusions are made to Dhar by the mediaeval Sanskrit poets.
During the rule of Bhoja, Dhar was recognised throughout India as a seat of learning. It suffered the usual vicissitudes of cities in those days.
