Indeed, if we inquire of human reason, whether it would be proper to erect a house for the residence of the divine glory, we should be induced to pretermit our intention ; since the Incorporeal cannot be con- fined within any limits; and thus we would never dedicate any houses to the worship of God, as the wide space of the plains, and the expanse of ocean are equally his with all the structures human inge- nuity can contrive.
