He reviews his course, honestly examines his case, lets conscience and the Holy Spirit perform their office, and hence understands his own life, discovers his own heart as never before.
When goodness brings us to humiliation, it not only produ- ces reflection, but at the same time reveals the excellence, the loveliness of the Being against whom we have sinned.
