Day Care Licensing Moves to Different Division Since the creation of DPHHS, the department has been focusing on improving quality controls within its programs. Day care licensing has been one of the first programs to change divisions in order to accomplish this goal. The day care licensing program had been part of the Child and Family Services Division, but on November 15, 1997, it officially became part of the Quality Assurance Division.
A committee comprised of DPHHS staff, child care resourc...e and referral personnel, and child care providers met over a four-month period to plan for this transfer. The final transition plan was designed to minimize disruption to providers, the public and affected agency employees while maintaining a viable child care licensing program. This move results in slight changes, but should not affect how services are delivered to day care providers or the public.
Ten family resource specialists, a program officer, and a licensing technician have transferred into the Quality Assurance Division.
