Solder for Lead.— Take tin, 1 part; lead, 2 parts. Tinners' Department. 473 3» Solder for Tin.— Lead, 10 parts; tin, 7 parts. 4,. Solder for Britannia.— Bismuth, % of one part; t...in, 1 part; /^iiU, 1 yart. BRITANNIA— To Use Old, Instead of Block Tin, In Solder.— Take old Britannia and melt it; and wliile liot sprinkle sulphur over it and stir for a short time. This burns out the other articles in it, and leaves the block tin, which may now be used for making solder as good as new tin. TIN— To Pearl, or Crystallze.— Sulphuric acid, 4 ozs.; soft water,/ i or 3 ozs., according to strength of the acid; salt, 1 oz.; mix. ' Heat the tin quite hot over a stove or heater; then with a sponge •vet with the mixture, washing off directly with clean water.
