March 1. A meeting of the Chancellor and Board of Regents of the University of Deseret was held today, at which Mr. David O. Calder, Principal of the University, who had conducted the Institution as a Commercial College since November, 1867, resigned his office as Principal, and Doc- tor John R. Park was elected and employed as Principal of the University in his stead. A salary of sixteen hun- dred dollars per annum was voted the new Principal.
