His descendant Henry Rutgers, on February 5, 1827, sold to Garrit Furman, two lots Nos. 466-497. The price was $4,300. These lots were bounded north by Bancker street, (now Madison,) and south by Lombardy street, (now Monroe,) the one being in the rear of the other. On the former lot, Mr. Furman erected the house which is now No. 94 Madison street, and is a fair example of the better class of residences in the early part of the century.
