The electric tramway of the future, that which will undoubtedly be in general use before very many years have passed, will, it is to be hoped, derive its current from an under- ground conductor. To speak, however, of electric tramways here as now in fairly general use in the United States, is a little out of place in the more or less chronological plan we have adopted.
