Sulphuric acid is largely used in the preparation of other acids, and also for the decomposition of substances where the applica- tion of high temperature is necessary. Free sulphuric acid is found in the waters of certain volcanic districts, and, as has already been stated, in the waters of coal mines where oxidation of iron pyrites is going on.
