...e. two hundred (and odd) lines all rhyming more or less perfectly to the termination -eeti\. A Note at the end of this speaks of "two distinct schemes or strands of time and accent, in general coincident, but occasionally showing themselves independent " (p. 27). Unless time be here restricted to syllabic quantity, this anticipates a doctrine which I have myself tried to preach. He does, however, usually so restrict it (cf. p. 69, note, in the earlier book), and I suspect does so in this case also.
