He knew Com- mander Harker would neither listen to nor speak with him ; besides he did not like to question the correctness of any report his chief had made ; in spite of the uncomfortable relations between him- self and Commander Harker he knew that he was in duty bound to render personal loyalty to the chief engineer; so for the time Ralph dismissed the matter from his mind.
