He has illumi- nated passage after passage in the New Testament from Greek writers ; if they do but turn to the index they will see at once how greatly indebted they are on the score of scholarship and of religion to this ' decrepit old man '. . . . Henceforth I shall hold them in con temp t, and I only wish I had always thus treated them, for there is little fun in setting oneself to drown the croaking of frogs.
