Yet, they at least fulfilled the important purpose of supplying hints and presumptive conjectures for a more exact induction to work upon ; and whatever, on various grounds, may have been the prejudices against the views of the transcendental school, physiologists are now beginning to pay them the homage of carrying out and establishing on demonstrative evidence (at least in regard to this great principle) the ideas which they suggested.
