Springing from the upper and lower alveolar processes it constitutes a form of Epulis. When arising from the medullary cavity the compact substance becomes expanded over the growth, producing, on palpation, the so-called "egg-shell crackling." The consistence is firmer than in the other forms of sarcoma, and on section presents a uniform suc- culent appearance of a red, brown, or maroon colour, which is very typical.
