What reading level is Evaluation of Pier-Scour Equations for Coarse-Bed Streams 2004 book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

This equation occasionally pro- duced pier-scour estimates that were less than zero. Calculated negative pier-scour values are reported in table 5 and plotted in figure 2 A as zero. Calculated negative pier scour values also are assumed to be zero for purposes of calculating residuals reported in table 5 and shown in figure 3. Calculated scour depth was less than measured scour depth by about 2 to 5 ft at P4, site 1 in Alaska, where substantial debris was reported for measurements 7 and 8. Debr...is on the pier probably contributed to the measured scour and accounted for the underestimation by the equation. For the 13 measurements where calculated scour was greater than measured scour, the difference between calcu- lated and measured scour ranged from 0.2 to 1.6 ft.
Pier-scour depths calculated by the five equations were compared to 42 pier-scour measurements. In this section, com- parisons for the results from each equation are discussed and presented using scatter and boxplots.
The equations were evaluated using two criteria, both of which are important to bridge design and to analysis of existing structures: 1 .
