Gano, of Cincinnati, state of Ohio, and being duly sworn, de- poseth and saith, that he knows John Smith of the same place, that is said to be indicted for treason and high crimes and misdemeanors, in the circuit court a
...foresaid, and that he believes he saw him the said John Smith at Cincinnati, on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of December, 1806, that he conversed with him 39 at Cincinnati on the 13th, in presence of Gen. James Findley and Matthew Niemo, and he appeared as much engaged to serve the public in destroying any operation of conspirators, or others, against the go- vernment, as any man could do, for he offered to do everything in his power to assist in carrying the governor's orders into execution, and did actually furnish the militia that was on that duty with pro- visions, and became responsible for the rent of bar- racks, &c.
