Kerosene. Kerosene was used in two ways in these experiments : (1) by mixing it thoroly with the seed in quantities varying from l /(> of a fluid ounce to 3^ ounces for each gallon of corn; and (2) by putting the seed into kerosene and soaking it there, previous to plant- ing, for periods varying from 10 minutes to 19 hours.
