I interjected, “Problem is, though, that I’m on my way to pick up Dante at the airport.” I wasn’t about to abandon him there, or even arrange an alternate form of transportation. Afterward, though . . . Well, my preference would have been spending the whole night with Dante. But if I could somehow help a friend with my presence . . .
“Oh, yes, Kendra, please come here. I don’t know what’s going to happen when the police arrive, but you have lots of experience with such things.”
