The MFWP Commission would set the number of permits each year prior to the season. Permits would be valid for the entire season (November 15 - February 15), valid for both the northern and western hunting areas, and would be valid for any wild bison (i.e. no age or sex restrictions) unless vaccination program are active during the hunting season. If bison are being vaccinated without being conspicuously marked, hunters will be restricted to harvest of adult males (adult males are not scheduled ...to be vaccinated by MDOL or YNP personnel and can be reliably identified by most hunters). When bison are tolerated in higher numbers and in greater areas outside YNP, areas open to hunting and numbers of permits may be expanded.
