Has given away about $300, 000, 000 in various bequests. William Rockefeller in later years shifted many of his business respon- sibilities to the shoulders of his son, Percy. William Rockefeller has been in i...ll health for many years. The state of his health and his whereabouts became a matter of intense public curiosity back in 1912-13, when the Con- gressional committee investigating the "Money Trust" desired him as a witness. He could not be found. For months the sergeant-at-arms of the House of Representatives led a search which was fruitless.
