If people are working hard other things may be added. 3 The main dish at one other meal should consist of one or more vegetables with milk and bread or cereals. 4 The third meal should have as its main dish meat or meat substi- tute prepared with plenty of vegetables. 5 There should be plenty of milk, vegetables and cereals in every diet. If these foods are made the important items in the diet the sugar may be reduced to a minimum. It should never be allowed between meals or at the beginning of a meal as it destroys the appetite for the foods needed.
