When much veneer work is to be done several large square pieces of felt X inch thick are very desirable and quite essential when gluing to changing surfaces. When the pressure increases the yielding character of the felt will press the veneer into any slight change of surface. If great care is maintained in the process of mitering and fitting the shaft the veneer may be applied to the stock first.
