3. Bunsenizing means mixing a certain proportion of the air of combustion with the gas before igni- tion. This air is called "primary" air; and any air afterwards required by the bunsen flame in order to complete the combustion of the gas to CO 2 and water is called "secondary air. " The quantity of primary air, added to the quantity of secondary air, amounts to the whole of the air necessary for the complete combustion of the gas.
