Meter died suddenly, but in the triumphant hope of eternal life, on the 3d day of April, 1899, after a married life of less than one year, leaving an infant daughter only five days old, which she said should bear the mother's name — Martha Pettit Van Meter. This attractive, lovely young woman had since her early girl- hood given her life to the service of Christ as a faithful, earnest worker in the Presbyterian Church and Sabbath-school, and she died as she had lived, with an abiding faith in her Redeemer's love.
