The exterior frieze and th...e pediments of the principal entrances are em- bellished by reproductions in statuary of the gems of ancient art. The construction of the entire building is necessarily fire-proof and the gen- eral tone is light gray stone. No wood is used, the materials being brick, staff, iron and glass. The very panes in the windows are set in iron frames. This structure of wondrous beauty and attraction is located at the south side of the most highly improved portion of the park, with the south front directly on the north lagoon.
