It was at the Barny O' Reirdon, 137 end of a week that the ship which Barny had hitherto kept ahead of him showed symptoms of bearing down upon him, as he thought ; and, sure enough, she did, and Barny began to conjecture what the deuce the ship could want with him, and commenced inventing answers to the ques- tions he thought it possible might be put to him in case the ship spoke him.
