These are two-toned papers in which small conventional figures are thickly sprinkled over a background one or two shades lighter in tone, giving the effect of woven goods, although there is no attempt to indicate the texture by overprinted lines as in tapestry or a cham...- bray paper. The figures are simply printed in solid color upon a plain ground color. They are made in all grades of wall paper from blanks or flats — a cheap grade printed on white stock — to the more expensive ingrains or cartridge papers and the "duplex" papers, which have an ingrain face and a backing of a harder surface paper. Of course, in these latter papers, the resemblance to a cloth fabric is very much stronger than in the lower priced goods. But in all classes, the general decorative effect is excellent.
