43 17. Alexander Xavier Guyenne, S. J. Father Alexander Guyenne was born at Orleans in France on December 29, 1696; he entered the Je- suit Order on September 24, 1713. He came to Lou- isiana in 1727, being one of the companions of Father Beaubois. He labored among the Alabamas till 1730, then among the Arkansas tribes. From 17^8 to 1762 he was active in the Illinois mis- sion, being Superior of all the Illinois missions for seven years, 1749-1756. He was for some time Pastor of Fort Ghartres, ...and his name appears in the Kaskaskia Marriage Register in 1748. He died in the Illinois mission in 1762. 18. Jean Charles Guymonneau, S. J. Father Jean Guymonneau was born in France on March 14, 1684; he entered the Jesuit Order on Oc- tober 3, 1704, and arrived in Canada in 1715. He was active in the Illinois country for twenty years, 1716-1736. His name appears in the Kaskas- kia Baptismal Register in 1720. He died in the Illinois mission on February 6, 1736. 19. Pierre Janin, diocesan priest Father Pierre Janin was sent by Bishop Car- roll of Baltimore to the Illinois country in 1795.
