Resolved, That this Club, representing largely the commercial, manufacturing, financial, and industrial in- terests of the national metropolis, hail with great satis- faction the sentiment, attributed to the President-elect, that all subsidies to private corporations for works of local importance, should be suspended until the revenues of the nation have reduced their debt and elevated the credit of the country to a point commensurate with its acknowledged position as a first-class power.
