(Hamilton) Moffett, the former a native of the state of Pennsylvania and the latter of Indiana, both now deceased, who were for years well-known among the old settlers of this county. John Moffett was but two years of age when he came to Indiana with his parents, Thomas and Salome (Heller) Moffett, from Pennsylvania in 1822. Thomas Moffett entered a tract of "(longress land" in Fairview township, this county, and there established his home, one of the earliest settlers in that part of the county.
